We held a new event this year, an apple pressing day, held on Sunday, 10th October. There are many apple trees on the allotments and, sadly, a lot of the apples go to waste each year. This year we organised the apple pressing day, when a lot of our members and their families joined in to collect, wash, prepare and then press the apples to collect the juice.
There were lots of apples to prepare, everyone joined in. The apples had to be crushed and finally pressed to extract the juice.
At the end of the day, we had about 70 litres of apple juice for participants to take home. Everyone involved enjoyed the day and we have decided to make it an annual event.
