This year Hertford Town Council are again holding an Allotments Scarecrow Competition, which is open to all plot holders and their families on the allotment site. The closing date this year is Sunday 16th October, which is in between Harvest Festival and Halloween. Certificates, rosettes and prizes will be awarded to the ‘best in show’ in Hertford Allotments.
The theme for this year is literature, which covers a variety of subjects for both children and adults, nursery rhymes, fairy tales, poetry, to children’s story books & adult novels, and offers lots of inspiration. The subject matter is endless. As a reminder from my earlier email sent out in March this year entries will need to include a carved pumpkin into your scarecrow theme, which could be a pumpkin head or as an attachment.
Can entrants please email the allotments Officer with details to include your name, title of scarecrow theme, allotment site and plot number, by Monday 10th October at the latest, so that I can ensure to place you on the judging list. You will need to securely place your scarecrow/s onto your allotment plot together with the name of your exhibit by end of the day on Sunday 16th October, ready for judging. email@example.com
The Mayor and Councillors had great fun last year judging all the scarecrow entries and we look forward to seeing lots of artistic inspiration on the allotment sites again this year.
